KEYSTONESYSTEMS

Keystone Systems

Senior engineering judgment, without the full-time hire

AI tools made code cheap to produce. They didn't make it easier to know if it's sound. Keystone Systems brings senior engineering judgment to the decisions that are expensive to get wrong and hard to undo later, from new builds to production-hardening to AI adoption.

How we work

Priced to outcome

Priced to the outcome up front, not billed hourly. That keeps us both pulling for the fastest path to done, not the longest one.

Senior, hands-on

Direct senior engineering or advising, whatever the engagement calls for. Never delegated to someone more junior.

Problem first

We scope the actual decision at hand, not the tech stack. What's expensive to get wrong, and what does a good outcome look like?

Scoped to fit

A few days of diligence, a multi-month build, or an open-ended retainer. The shape follows the situation, not a fixed package.

No black box

Most engagements end with a clean handoff, documentation included. Some continue as an ongoing or fractional arrangement instead. Either way, you're never dependent on us to maintain what we built.

Easy to start

No RFP, no procurement process. Engagements start with a conversation about the actual situation, and nothing's committed until scope and price are clear.

About the founder

Keystone Systems is led by a software engineer with over a decade of experience, including as a Principal Software Engineer at Microsoft and building core payments infrastructure as a senior engineer at Stripe on systems that processed billions of dollars in transactions a day. That background shapes how engagements are scoped: long-term defensibility, architecture tradeoffs, and systems built to hold up under real load, not just a demo.
